Evening sportsfans!! i think the grim reaper himself has been overlooking my blog selections this week as if i was a dog i would of been put down the form i've been in.however hope springs eternal & hopefully super saturday can see us turn the corner...
2.25 NEWBURY betfair denman chase 3m G2
we'll start with the fav silviniaco conti & i'll be taking him on tomorrow.the form of his haydock victory has been upheld by the runner up long run following up in the king george but he was race fit that day against rivals making there seasonal reappearance & the tables are slightly turned tomorrow with him coming here on the back of a 77 day break.his seasonal debut win was the first time he'd won after a 60 day break at the 4th attempt but the entire field where making there reappearances that day so the fact that the runners up spot was filled by a 142 rated 33/1 shot immediatly casts doubt over the strength of the form.the horse i'm siding with is the philip hobbs trained MENORAH.he was a high class hurdler finishing 5th in the 2011 champion but i think the step up to 3m will be the making of him.he hasn't been the best of jumpers so far but this steadier pace can help him settle into a rythmn & the newbury fences aren't the most testing in the NH arena & he has already claimed the scalp of silvianaco conti, all be it over the smaller obstacles & he can lay it up to the favourite tomorrow.
ADVISED BETS:
BACK: 3pts e/w MENORAH @ 8/1 ladbrokes
LAY: silviniaco conti
3.00 NEWBURY betfair super saturday chase 2m1f G2
again we'll kick off with the favourite & i think it will be just that for backers..wishful thinking!! firstly i think the trip is far to sharp for him these days & whilst he did win a mickey mouse race over 2m on his penultimate start if you have a look at the horses ratings that he was running against that day i think that says it all.all his best forms been over further & he's far from a natural jumper of the larger obstacles & his BHA rating of 162 surely flatters him.at the age of 10 old father time could just be catching up with him & he has to give weight to some very useful rivals, one of whom is my strong fancy & thats FRENCH OPERA.the nicky henderson runner is quite the opposite to the hobbs runner in which the drop back in trip is exactly whats required in my opinion.he made his seasonal bow over christmas which should have blown the cobwebs away & the drop in trip & better ground should see him to maximum effect here tomorrow.when you look down his form it reads like the "who's who" of national hunt racing including sizing europe, master minded, sprinter sacre & sanctuaire to name a few.he's had 3 runs over C&D and they've resulted in a win & 2 runners up spots so he clearly loves the berkshire track & is a strong fancy tomorrow.
ADVISED BETS:
BACK: 4pts win FRENCH OPERA@ 4/1 ladbrokes
LAY: wishful thinking
hopefully super saturday can live up to its billing & give us some quality racing & more importantly give us some much needed clues regarding the upcoming cheltenham festival.many thanks for taking the time to read my blog & i wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide for your money tomorrow & happy punting!!
regards
