Evening sportsfans!! the greatest show on turf rolls into town tomorrow.. and the rules are simple.. GO HARD OR GO HOME! there is only one royal ascot..plain & simple.. i have chosen to preview the group races on the card so here goes..

2.30 ascot 1m Group 1 Queen Anne stakes

right then short priced backers..its time to lock horns & battle to the death!! animal kingdom certainly splits opinion & firstly i'll start with the facts..two runs over a mile..two defeats.. four runs on fast ground.. three defeats.. all his form is over 10f & the dubai world cup was hardly a classic..planteur in third struggled to beat van der neer at lingfield & red cadeaux.. well lets put it this way.. would you back red cadeaux at odds on to get within 2l of the winner of tomorrows race?? only if your a complete fool maybe. the breeders cup is the key race for me as excelebration was a very unlucky fourth around a length behind animal kingdom & with a clear run would have beaten him i think & that was on his home ground. the gosden filly was less than 2l behind excelebration last year & also gets the handy sex allowance tomorrow but more importantly she goes well fresh. i have watched animal kingdoms runs over a mile on youtube & frankly he looked paceless, things happened to quickly for him & they'll be no prisoners out there tomorrow & i can see the jockey shovelling on the coal at half way to be honest. i'm happy to take him on at odds on as for a horse thats running over an inadequate trip on unsuitable going the price is ridiculous.

LAY: animal kingdom

BACK: elusive kate (e/w) 7/1 bet365

3.05 ascot 5f Group 1 Kings Stand stakes

this is a difficult race that could change violently should there be any rain if i'm honest. rain or shine i'm happy to take on another short price fav in shea shea to be honest. i'm not the biggest fan of meydan form as i really dont think it travels well & this fella always seems to need a run to sharpen him up so after an 80 day break i'm not sure he'll be bang on his A-game. the fact that adam kirbys doing 8-12 on reckless abandon should be heeded & whilst i layed him on his re-appearance he ran far better than i expected in the temple stakes & last years middle park winner can take this valuable prize.

LAY: shea shea

BACK: reckless abandon 5/1 widely available

3.45 ascot 1m Group 1 St James Palace stakes

our old friend dawn approach goes here in a fascinating clash with magician & this race is a straight shout out between the two guineas winners in opinion. i'm starting to think though that the english version wasn't the greatest renewal & on a line through van der neer the ballydoyle inmate has his measure here & thats what we'll go with. the difference here though is i KNEW he wouldn't win the derby where as here i THINK he won't win..big difference..think on if your laying please..

LAY: dawn approach

BACK: magician 5/2 widely available

4.25 ascot 6f Group 2 Coventry stakes

not normally a race i would get heavily involved in but i do like the hannon runner thunder strike here. he showed a fabulous attitude at epsom & is only one of two runners in the field with a pattern race success to his name along with the ballydoyle raider stubbs. at the forecast prices i think hes a cracking each-way bet.

BACK: thunder strike (e/w) 9/1 widely available

i think i'll throw them in a lucky 15 as well to see if we can land a tasty return!

many thanks for following and good luck!! :-)

regards
ian
