Evening sportsfans!! well after the drivel of today we come to the highlite of the NH season so far for me & its the cheltenham trials day with the added spice of the re-arranged victor chandler chase from last weeks postponed meeting at ascot which sees the return of the mighty sprinter sacre who i have to say is the first NH horse to make my "spine tingle" since desert orchid did back in his prime & a mouth watering days racing looks in store so hopefully we've found a couple of winners...
1pt e/w NADIYA DE LA VEGA 1.15 CHELTENHAM (nap) 12/1
1pt e/w HUNT BALL 2.25 CHELTENHAM (nb) 10/1
NDLV ran an absolute blinder behind al ferof in the paddy power back in november & with the handicapper leaving her mark alone she has a great chance to go in here as walkon held the form up when chasing home the handicap "snip" unioniste off a 5lb higher mark.she did have a slip up in between when unseating in that unioniste race which was uncharacteristic & was the first time she's been on the floor in her career so we can forgive her that & she has only had 10 lifetime starts so could still be open to improvement as she's only just turned seven.i must admit the ground put me off last time as whilst she appreciates some give in the ground she wouldn't want it hock deep either so the forecast going seems ideal but i would air on the side of caution should it turn up bottomless. hunt balls connections have had a game plan from the outset this season & i dont think he's been quite "primed" so far this season but i think his shrewd connections will have him tuned to the minute for this tomorrow.he got his season somewhat back on track last time out when outpointed by menorah & i think he'll appreciate the trip as well.most of his opponents have questions to answer in one way or another which include former gold cup winner imperial commander who returns to the track after a 680 day absence.far be it from me to question a trainers decision but he's obviously had his problems over the years & at the age of 12 surely he deserves a peaceful retirement rather than being dragged round a 3m slog.
there is quality in abundance with a very strong supporting card including the likes of the new one & oscar whiskey & whilst the novice hurdle will be a watching brief for me with a view to the festival if coneygree is short enough i would be a layer as i think he wants much further than this trip to be seen to best effect.the one horse i will be laying at short odds is oscar whiskey as i don't believe he stays 3m on a train & the one thing that reve de sivola will do is stay & stay all day & i think he'll push the pace to stretch oscars stamina hopefully to the max.enoughs been said about sprinter sacre by far better judges than me & i just hope he comes back safe & sound as horses like him are very few & far between. many thanks for taking the time to read my blog & i hope you've found it both interesting & informative.good luck with whatever you decide for your money tomorrow & happy punting!! :-)
