13/3/2013

Evening sportsfans!! well the quest for winners brings us to the half way point in this years festival & so far the tale of woe continues but after day two i'm about level but only due to some cunning laying & trading in all fairness.i can't let the chance pass to mention sprinter sacre.. what an equine specimin he is & hopefully we'll see him for a good few years yet but i honestly don't think we'll ever see the best of him as i don't think theres anything currently in training (including simonsig!) that could even get him off the bridle & he really is a joy to behold.onto tomorrows thoughts..

1.30 CHELTENHAM jewson novices' chase

not very original but i really can't see past the favourite DYNASTE here.he's wiped the floor with everything he's come across so far this season & as if he wasn't head & shoulders above the opposition already he also has the bonus of not having to carry a G1 penalty in this G2 event owing to the race conditions.

2.05 CHELTENHAM pertemps hurdle final

now it gets interesting & unless i'm very much mistaken we come across the best handicapped horse of the week in SAM WINNER.if you take his triumph hurdle fourth literally he COULD have anything upto TWENTY POUNDS in hand of this field & i don't say that lightly.he was a neck behind the nicky henderson trained grandouet that day who was still travelling well when coming a cropper in the champion on tuesday & the stable have done an unbelievable job of getting him into the race on a mark of 140.he couldn't go the pace that day & finished like a train and in my opinion the longer trip can only bring out FURTHER improvement.he then had an unsuccesful spell over fences & warmed up for this by beating 160 rated hurdler peddlers cross in a jumpers bumper which is still very smart form & whilst his triumph hurdle run was two years ago he is still only six.hes got very few miles on the clock having had only nine lifetime starts & i'm expecting a massive run.

2.40 CHELTENHAM ryanair chase

again not a very inspired selection & i think CUE CARD can get the better of first lieutenant here.i'm not sure the irish raider wants a trip as sharp as this to show his best & the tizzard runner's 7l second in last years arkle behind sprinter sacre now looks very good form after the way he put his rivals to the sword today.

3.20 CHELTENHAM world hurdle

now we get to the NAP & i think some of you might be surprised here.i'm going to weigh in with last years 3rd SMAD PLACE.alan kings gelding ran a blinder last year & with the winner & the runner up missing from this years renewal the doors open for him.oscar whiskey is held on last years running & the ground was like a bog when he was beaten by reve de sivola at christmas.all 3 of his career wins have come on gd/sft going & he seems to be the forgotten horse in this & i'm expecting a massive run tomorrow.

4.00 CHELTENHAM byrne group plate

the NB bet of the day goes here & its the tim vaughan trained TARTAK.hes now a massive 15lb below his last winning mark & has been hampered by the heavy ground this season.this is his optimum trip & i don't believe he stays a yard further than this so you can forgive his last four runs (2 on heavy &2 over 3m).his reappearance was probable his best run of the season in hindsight behind nadiya de la vega & it was only late on that the lack of a previous outing told.he'll feel like a spring chicken running round here off 10-3 & the booking of dickie johnson off a low weight is very eye catching.

BETS SUMMARY:

2pts e/w SMAD PLACE 3.20 (nap) 12/1 boylesports

1pt e/w TARTAK 4.00 (nb) 22/1 coral

2pts win SAM WINNER 2.05 9/2 paddypower

DYNASTE 1.30 13/8 boylesports
CUE CARD 2.40 7/2 ladbrokes
2pts win double

another 10pt day tomorrow & its time to lock horns with the old enemy in a fight to the death now we're at the half way point!! i'm going in quite heavy tomorrow & the results will define wether i come out on top this year or not but the tin hats on & i'm leading the charge!!lol many thanks for taking the time to read my blog & i wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide for your money tomorrow & happy punting!! :-)

regards
ian
